The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) is planning to facilitate a certification system in information security on the lines of CMM.
This system will not only boost customers’ confidence but also bring more business to Indian companies, according to Kiran Karnik, president of Nasscom.
Information security has become a focus area for corporates since tampering networks will affect intangible assets, he said. India needs 60,000 information security professionals in three years, he said.
Inaugurating the one-day international seminar on ‘Information Security Challenges Post 9/11,’ organised by e2Labs here today, Karnik said: “We are holding discussions with various organisations to initiate the certification process in information security. Nasscom will play a facilitator role and certification process will be carried out by an authorised agency. At the moment I can’t tell the exact date of introducing this system but we will come out with this soon.”
Karnik said networking is bringing in more and more business, and tampering with the same will impact not only the bottomline of companies but also future prospects.
